Out with the old
I have been doing a lot of clearing out lately. Not just in my space, but in my life. Closets, drawers, old boxes…. its crazy how much stuff I have been holding onto “just in case.” Clothing I haven’t worn in years, things that I thought I might need one day, memories I wasn’t quite ready to release. But here’s the thing, keeping all that old stuff has just weighed me down. Every time I saw it, I was reminded of the version of myself that I’ve already outgrown. So I ask myself “does this add value to my life today?” If not its time to release it.
Sometimes we need to make space for the new. There is something freeing about letting go. Whether that’s clothes in a closet that haven’t seen the light of day for years, too many gadgets that have never been used or beliefs that no longer serve us. We aren’t just clearing space, we are making room for the new. New experiences, opportunities, and a new perspective on life.
While we tend to think of clutter as too much stuff, its not just our tables, closets or cabinets that become crowded. Our minds do as well. Grudges, mistakes, old conversations and the what ifs can weigh us down taking up valuable space in our minds. It’s kind of like a basket in the middle of the floor. It wont move unless we move it out of the way. Moving on doesn’t mean forgetting, it means acknowledging what was. Take the time to think about the lessons you’ve learned and then place on a shelf of the past. This makes a place for you to step forward feeling lighter with more clarity. Your future needs space to grow, don’t let yesterday live there free taking up space. Making space is not about loss. It’s about welcoming what’s next.
So here’s to fresh starts, open spaces, and trusting that new things waiting for us are worth so much more that the clutter we leave behind.
